Fédération Régionale des CUMA Rhône-Alpes

The Cuma are agricultural co-operatives of which exist some 13,000 in France. The mission is to enable shared use of farm equipment among farmers. Thanks to their organisation in different level of federations (départemental/ provincial, regional, national), they compose the widest net-work in France for agricultural extension and rural development. As groups of farmers who proved to be efficient on the field, they are involved in most topical concerns, including sustain-able development, environment protection, and especially renewable energy production.
The Fédération Régionale des Cuma Rhône-Alpes (FRCUMA) is in charge of
  • Technical support to about 900 Cuma (representing some 15,000 farmers) and their 8 Fédérations Départementales (FDCuma),
  • Professional representation of the Cuma toward the regional authorities,
  • Permanent connection between the departmental and national levels,
The FRCuma has 2 permanent employees: a secretary/accountant, and a manager. This team manages a network of 10 technicians and engineers assisting the cooperatives in their activities. Two of them will be associated to this project: an engineer specialised in the promotion of pure plant oil for cooperatives, a technician specialised in the complete on-site testing of farm tractors.

Main tasks in this project

Within this project, FRCUMA will do demonstration activities with three tractors running with PPO in WP5.
